Mt Kinabalu Climbathon 2010 (5)

The World's Toughest Mountain Race
Are You Tough Enough?

I notice that the top participants of this Mt KK Climbathon 2010 event have big thigh muscles whereas the runners' legs are slimmer and slander (with not much thigh muscle). While most runners can achieve certain height in this climbathon event, there will not be much breakthrough in arriving at the peak within qualifying time. We need stronger muscles to push us up the mountain, and of course, more focused training in running up hills or mountains.

Since we have another year to the next Climbathon event, we shall strategize the training sessions later. Meantime, let us enjoy and bask ourselves in the fond memory of this post-event by looking at the photos share from other members of the group.

Overall, it was fun but a tough race. The group is very much motivated wanting to go back again next year.

Meantime, Sharon Tan, one of the team members, is organizing a post-Mount Kinabalu Climbathon get-together for dinner and karaoke session.

According to a reliable source from the organizer, next year’s Mt KK Climbathon 2011 might be changed to August 2011 if Malaysia were to remain in the ISF (International Skyrunning Federation) circuit as the final circuit shall be held in Italy in September 2011. Mt KK Climbathon also coincides with the 25 years Anniversary Jubilee celebration.

Don't forget to mention the special skills that the top runners have in being able to literally run and jump downhill for 8km in conditions that most of us would be walking carefully!! In the first picture, the runner is probably running 10km/h downhill!
