Apik Hill CNY Outing

Gong Xi Gong Xi ... early "hoi kung" (start work) at Apik Hill on chor 3 (Wedn, 10 Feb 2016) with ChongYF, Lana, Shu-Lin and SC Yong. It was a cloudy morning where the sun was totally shielded away. Arriving at Station 6, there wasn't any trekker there; needless to say, we could not see any wild boar other than the droppings. While running towards Saga Hill station surrounded by the wild palm trees, I thought of the office colleagues who were busy working while I was busy running.

At Saga Hill station of Apek Hill, the crowd started to build – a stark contrast to the other hill station. While returning via the Tokong trail, we met the humble uncle who mans the inner coconut stall at the trail head. Seeing him there, we knew there would be no coconut juice to drink. Instead, we taught him to handle the camera to take group photos for us.

The building of pylons is progressing fast; we are not sure whether we could still trek Apik Hill in future

Apik Hill Clearing with Pylons

Trail running and outdoor workouts at Apik Hill Cheras on Saturday morning, 19 Dec ... the outing started at 8:00 a.m. and only ended at 1:00 p.m. The clearing in the photos are for erecting of pylons (for power lines) that cut across the lower hills.

One day, we may call it the "electric trail" or Shock Trail. Overtime, that might become Siok Trail. Just like the name of Apik Hill - not "uncle" as in Bahasa Malaysia. We were told that it is a white hill as "pek" is white in Hockien.

Group workouts along the rest stations
Taking a breather ... the hammock is good for resting in a hot afternoon
At Saga hill station ... from here, the group descended and then ascended Saga hill en route to waterfall
Having a good splash with the refreshing cold water
Lots of water flowing at the waterfall with the rainy seasons

Emerging from the trail, we have to pass by the clearing. Without the trees, we took a wrong path and ended up in a area where we have no idea where it is. After wandering for 500 meters, we have no choice but to backtrack to the trail.

2013 CNY Trail Running

Trail Running at Apek Hill, Cheras, for an early "hoi kung" (start work) on chor 3 (Day-3) of 2013 Chinese New Year (12 Feb 2013).

Instead of greeting other trekkers with the usual Good Morning, a most appropriate greeting for the occasion would be "Gong Hei Fatt Choy" for a short exchange of pleasantry. Nevertheless, if there was time, I would continue with another greeting: wishing good health in Cantonese. After all, being there means we love the outdoor and good health.

Apek Hill Trail Run

Trail running at Apek Hill on Friday, 26 October 2012. The group went from Station 1 to Station 5, and continued to waterfall area, then proceeded to Saga Station; returned via Station 6 with the downhill run and back to base. After days of heavy rains during the 9-day of Nine Emperor King event, the splash of water at the waterfall was much stronger.
