One excellent motivating factor is to commit with payment first, whether in booking the flight or paying the registration fees. Then one would be motivated to train, even on rainy days.
Without any commitment, I certainly would find excuse not to train. I remember waking up one Wednesday morning at 5:00 a.m.; standing by the bed, I was thinking hard whether I should go out to run. After much thought, I just went back to continue my sleep.
