A massive traffic jam happening in orange street lights of almost pitch black sky? This photo in page 4 of Star Metro caught my attention today, Wednesday 29 August. When I took a closer look, it was about the traffic jam leading to the Malaysia International Fireworks Competition (MIFC) at Putrajaya on Saturday 25 August night. It was a night of spectacular and beautiful fireworks displays by Team Italy.

Jason Lee, Weng, relatives and yours truly were lucky that we were not caught in the mammoth traffic jam. One of my colleagues was not that lucky – he was caught in a 3-hour traffic jam and did not make it to the destination to witness the fireworks displays.

The next exciting fireworks displays will be scheduled tomorrow, Thursday 30 August – the eve of Merdeka Day. We will be there again knowing that the traffic jam will be worst than before. We are still analyzing the location by using Google Map to identify a strategic location for the perfect photos shoot.

This time, the fireworks will be staged by Team Japan. We hope to see that even the fireworks displays contain the element of high-technology. Possibly, they can display fireworks in the shape of a Toyota Camry instead of the star shape by Team Italy.

As I told my friend, I was enthralled by the fireworks displays and the 10 minutes were the most ecstatic moment in my life. You have to be there to experience the awesome sight and exhilarating ground shaking blast sound.

Here is wishing you an enjoyable and memorable evening in watching the fireworks display.

Happy 50th Merdeka Celebrations.

Team Italy enthralled the spectators by staging the fireworks display that was really riveting. Saturday 25 August night is Team Italy’s turn to show its capability in conducting the fireworks display.

Half mask - half red half blue

So far, the following countries have participated in Malaysia International Fireworks Competition (MIFC) in Putrajaya from 18 August to 2 September: Malaysia, Australia and Italy.

Three-tier display

Throughout the 20 minutes show, I could continually hear the exclamation: “WAH”, “ho yeah” (very good), “ho leng” (very beautiful). At times, I did say those words myself responding in agreement to their admiration.

Star sign... some are in heart sign that captivated the admiration of spectators

The ending is always the most exciting and it is the climax of the entire fireworks display. More and more fireworks were been shot up in quick succession illuminated the sky of Putrajaya International Convention Centre. The explosive sound of “BOOM” was loud and the resonance effect shook the ground.

MIFC – Fireworks Competition (Part 3)

Spectacular and beautiful - Photos are taken by a friend, Shukri.

It is one of those rare occasions where we get to see fireworks for almost 10 times within two weeks – the Malaysia International Fireworks Competition at Putrajaya. Usually, we only have the chance to see it once or twice a year. After understanding the fault in the camera setting in taking those unsatisfactory photos, we have to wait for another year to correct the mistake. By then, we would have forgotten the settings.

One good reason to support this fireworks competition, as I told my friends, is that I may not live another 50 years for the next 50 Years Celebration in Nationhood.
.
I am pleased to show you the photos taken by a friend, Shukri. He went to Putrajaya on Wednesday 22 August evening to shoot the fireworks display by Team Australia. Standing along the Putrajaya Boulevard, he was stationed at the opposite end from where I was shooting.

He told me that one of the officers from the Ministry of Tourism, after seeing his photos in the internet, was very impressed and asked him what setting he used for his camera.

It was indeed a dramatic finishing and happy ending for RHB Bank Team. One of the Indian runners, Vasu (bib number 386), collapsed about 20 meters from the finishing line. According to Chan Wing Kai who was there taking photo, Vasu’s legs were wobbling that he could not even stand up. He must be running at blistering pace and thus pumped to the maximum. The Rela guys lifted him. With assistance, he managed to struggle to cross the finishing line with cheers and applauses from the supporters.

Fireworks Competition - MIFC

Please click here to view 22 photos taken by yours truly, KC.

I went for the opening night of Malaysia International Fireworks Competition at Putrajaya on Saturday 18 August.

When I arrived there at 8:30 p.m., the entire Putrajaya area was crowed with people and traffic.
.
Wawasan Bridge of Putrajaya
.
I decided to set up the tripod of my camera near the Wawasan Bridge area. Walking around that area before the start of fireworks display, I could see many came with the entire family and children.

The fireworks display started at 10:00 p.m. as published. I realized that the location that I have chosen was no good as the view was blocked squarely by a building and tress. The spectators could only see those magnificent fireworks that shot higher than the building. Since it was quite a distance from the main firing area, I could not even hear the blast of the fireworks, which added on to the excitement.
.

The next session is scheduled on Wednesday evening, 22 August. I shall drive to Putrajaya again tomorrow evening after work to survey the environment and identify a nearer and better location.

The response to this breakfast run organized by Pacesetters Club received good responses. About 500 members and friends turned up for this fun-filled, non-competitive running event to officiate the launch of Putrajaya Area Group of Pacesetters Club. It was held at Taman Wetlands of Putrajaya today, Sunday 19 August.
