Sekinchan Trip by Zhineng Qigong Members

Eighty-eight members of the The Zhineng Qigong Malaysia (Subang Jaya Centre) went for a fun-filled, free-and-easy, sight-seeing day trip on Saturday, 14 July 2012 to Sekinchan. A small, coastal town located in the state of Selangor, Sekinchan is one of the major rice producing areas of  Malaysia with padi fields that stretch a far as the horizon. A unique scene here – one can drive right beside the padi fields connecting the vast landscape.

Passing by Kuala Selangor, the group took a train ride up the hill of Bukit Melawati, a historical hill that is now home of many monkeys. The fort at the small peak with a few canons taking a commanding view of the coastline was once home to a mighty fortress, and now, good location for photos shoot.

At Sekinchan, the group have a sumptuous and satisfying seafood lunch, and later shopping of local produces for fish ball, fishcakes, etc; visiting of rice factory, mango farm, and a Chinese temple.

According to the bus driver, harvesting of padi can be done within a day or two with usage of machinery. He related that he ferried a group of tourists on a Monday with padi ready for harvesting. Two days after, when he fetched another group, the vast padi fields have been harvested – a post-harvest and not-too-exciting scene that we see in this trip.

The one-day trip fosters closer relationship among members other than the twice-weekly practice sessions; the trip is made possible even with a nominal fee contributed by each participant as Zhineng Qigong (M'sia) is a non-profit association in promoting good health and healing technique through structured practice of Chinese ancient life-science. From the positive feedbacks, there would be more excursions for members in future.
