TonyQ (the Mountain Sifu) and I are pleased to announce the first training session in preparation for the Mother-of-all Climbathons in Malaysia -- Mount Kinabalu Climbathon.
.
.
The training ground will be at Rover track and Canopy Walkway trail of FRIM, Kepong this Saturday, 12 June 2010.
All runners and trekkers are welcome. Even if you are new to trekking, you can also join us as the method of training is loop-around in circuit.
Please click here to view photos of the track taken by yours truly (KC). I have recced the location and here are the photos.
.
At Location B (inside FRIM, turn right to Location E)
Date: Saturday 12 June 2010
Start Time: 7:30 a.m.
End time: 10:30 a.m.
Duration: 3 hours
Venue: FRIM, Kepong
Meet at: 7:00 a.m for briefing at Location E car parks.
How to go there: At Location B junction (showing Masjid Jamek), turn right to the mosque direction (to Location E).
.
Location E - park your cars here. Stand-alone building with brown roof is the toilet
Method of Training/Looping:
a. At Location E (toilet/car park), run to F (starting of Canopy Walkway Trail), passing by G, H, J, K, L. Then run back to F.
b. Loop again: F, G, H, J, K, L, F c. While at F, you can run back to E (car park to drink water or go to toilet).
.
The terrain here is similar to the trail as in Mount Kinabalu
.
.
The advantage of training at this trek is that the uphill terrain (photos marked “G”) is somewhat similar to those trails as in Mount Kinabalu. With the ascent and descent within short distance, one can interwoven the ascending and descending action quickly.
.
On the descending trail, the ground can be slippery, so are the huge rocks along the trail. Take the opportunity to test the off-road running shoes for good traction. If you are wearing road running shoes, you would be able to know whether your existing shoes are suitable for this challenge.
