Dr. Walter and TanAB - analysing the map of Everest Base Camp

On Sunday afternoon, both Dr. Walter and I went to Tan AB’s house. The purpose was to brief Dr. Walter what to expect since both Tan AB and I have been to that part of the world before. Tan AB, an avid trekker and a marathon runner, has trekked to Kalapathar and Everest Base Camp. As for me, after reaching Cho La Pass, Nepal our team returned and did not trek to Kalapathar.

TanAB returned from trekking in Nepal two weeks before I started my trekking to Cho La Pass on 23 May 2007. And before I went, I actually got tips from him what to bring and to expect. That valuable briefing took almost two hours.

Going through the trekking details with Dr. Walter was fun as it rekindled the memorable trip. Time past fast and the briefing session took three hours to complete!

Dr. Walter is engaging the same Trek and Tour Company in Nepal - Mt. Manaslu Adventure Treks Ltd owned by Mr. Cheban.

Minimum fitness requirement: You must be very fit and have done numerous trekking trips. A trekker is required to walk about 7 hours per day; at times, in steep terrain. This trek is classified as Strenuous (classification: strenuous, moderate, and easy). Runners who have done full marathon recently are automatically qualified.

The best time to trek in Napel is October to November and April to May. I will be organizing another trekking trip to Annapurna, Nepal in early May 2008. If you are interested, please contact me.
