Brief description of itinerary

Day 1 Tambunan to Mount Trus Madi (or Trusmadi... in Sabah) base camp by 4WD; start trekking at 9.30 am to mid-way cabin campsite 2,340m (above sea level).

Day 2 Ascend at 3.45 am to summit; arrived at 5.10 am; wait for sunrise (5.55am), descend to Mount Trusmadi base campsite at 7.15 am; pack up & meet 4WD at 3.10pm, proceed to Tambunan and to Kota Kinabalu.

Note by KC: What a name - Trus Madi in Bahasa Malaysia does sound like Terus Mati - meaning 'proceed to die'.

Mount Trusmadi is Malaysia's second highest mountain at 2,642 metres (8,668 ft). It lies in the state of Sabah, close to Mount Kinabalu. The mountain supports a wide range of unique flora and fauna, perhaps most notably Nepenthes macrophylla, a species of pitcher plant.
