If you look at the photos, the terrain does not permit much running, unless you are really really strong and fit. The heavy backpack (mine was 17kg with water on day 1)and fear of injury also make sure we cannot really run. However I enjoyed the 42k marathon leg on second last day where I could run and completed in just under 7 hours. It was my most enjoyable day in Sahara. Looking at KLIM and Xiamen pictures, I missed running the marathon.
